Boonville, CA (April 5, 2011) – Zina Hyde Cunningham Winery (www.zinawinery.com) in conjunction with the Ledson Harmony Foundation (www.ledsonharmonyfoundation.com) were thrilled and honored to donate over $5,000 to the Anderson Valley School District Friday, March 25, 2011. The proceeds came from the Zina Hyde Cunningham Winery and its recent involvement with Mendocino County crab and mushroom festivals, where proceeds were matched by the Ledson Harmony Foundation for Children. AVSD Superintendent J.R. Collins noted “that the most recent donation will be used to fund field trips for the 4th, 5th and 6th graders in the district”. This latest donation brings total donations from Zina Hyde Cunningham Winery and the Ledson Harmony Foundation to the Anderson Valley School District exceeding $25,000 total over the last couple of years.

Steve Ledson was on hand to deliver the check and enthused, “Giving back to the local community and children is what the Cunningham’s and Ledson’s support. Children are the future of America and with the economy currently struggling; it is our way of helping.”

Education has been a focus in the family for over sixty years. Ledson’s business partner, Bill Cunningham, who passed away in 2008, served as former Governor Duekmejian’s education advisor and was School Superintendent, principal and teacher throughout his career in education in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino counties. Bill’s daughter, now business partner, Shalee Cunningham is also involved in education as Superintendent of Steamboat Springs School District, which further compels Zina Hyde Cunningham Winery to continue to raise money and donate funds for education and support of children.

In addition to events like the mushroom and crab festivals at Zina Hyde Cunningham winery, the Harmony Foundation is funded by in kind donations from the Ledson and Cunningham families and wineries, direct donations from the public to the Harmony Foundation and special bottlings of Ledson wines in conjunction with such caring celebrity friends of the Foundation such as singer and Grammy winning artist Michael McDonald, San Francisco 49er Hall of Fame receiver Dwight Clark, Academy award winning actor Jeff Bridges and San Francisco Giant’s Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda.

The Ledson Harmony Foundation for Children exists to break down the barriers between need and assistance by providing direct financial support to at-risk or in-need youth whose record of personal responsibility, dedication and achievement is imperiled by circumstances or events beyond their control. In particular, the Ledson Harmony Foundation for Children works to enhance philanthropy and strengthen our sense of community by providing help to those underprivileged children whose own families cannot.
